Wicca and Witchcraft in Adelaide, South Australia

The Circle of Oak and Mistletoe is a teaching coven in the tradition of Universal Eclectic Wicca (UEW). Put simply, that means we're affiliated with the Church of Universal Eclectic Wicca (CUEW) and we use their fundamentals to teach and conduct our practice.

The dream of Oak and Mistletoe started in 2005 when Amethyst moved away from the traditionalist Alexandrian teachings and began to explore a tradition which offered a more personalised and tailor-made view of Wicca. As is often the case when serendipity comes knocking, the catalyst finally came in early 2008 when several people simultaneously asked her to teach this rapidly increasing religion.

Oak and Mistletoe is built on the personal ethos of it's founder which is that everyone is divine and everyone deserves respect. As such, it is a coven dedicated to the development and support of its members and operates on a shared paradigm of love and appreciation.

Oak and Mistletoe does not conduct any rituals skyclad, does not tolerate or advocate the use of illicit drugs, does not teach minors without parental consent and does not engage in rituals that threaten physically or emotionally any coven members, guests or members of the public.

What we do instead is offer a supportive, caring environment where the theory and practice of Wicca is taken seriously. Together we share in the festivals of our liturgical calendar, conduct full moon Esbat rituals and generally dedicate ourselves to creating a better life for ourselves, our families and friends and this wonderful planet we have been blessed to caretake.

The Teaching Circle

So you want to learn about Wicca?  Oak and Mistletoe has a well developed, free teaching program for those new to Wicca and for those who want to refresh their skills and knowledge. Our Outer Court program runs over eight months and during that time you'll learn about the basics of Wicca and Witchcraft, the practices, Wiccan tools, magick and the rituals of full moons and the Wheel of the Year. You'll also be invited to attend some of the coven's rituals as part of your carefully designed training. At the end of the program you'll have everything you need to move forward into the world of Wicca and Witchcraft.

To apply to join our teaching circle, first take a look at our teaching circle page  to see if our program is the right way forward for you.

The Coven Leader

The Circle of Oak and Mistletoe is lead by Amethyst, a Second Circle member of the Church of Universal Eclectic Wicca. Amethyst originally learnt her craft, and was initiated into the Alexandrian tradition but later moved into UEW to further her development. She's been practising and teaching Wicca and Witchcraft for several years.

As well as years of hands on practice with the Craft, Amethyst has a Doctorate from Curtin University in Western Australia in which she researched how Wiccans and Witches learn intuitively. She also has a Masters in Professional Education and Training from Deakin University in Victoria and a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from James Cook University in Qld. Amethyst has been a strategic and operational manager in the adult learning field for more than two decades and is a member of several national committees contributing to vocational education in Australia.

Amethyst shares her life with her wonderful partner, follows closely the antics, trials and joys of her four grown up human kids who have all left home and clears up after the two feline kids who call home their castle! In her limited spare time, she continues her higher degree Wiccan studies, is finalising her study to become a registered civil celebrant, paints in oils and revels in the joy of life.
